INTRODUCING MY NEW WOVEN BASKETS
Hello Friends,
In my previous blog I mentioned that I would be revisiting my love of weaving again. Well, I’m so excited to be sharing my new creation with you! I’ve picked up where I left off a few years ago, and was inspired to create a basket and lid from upcycled newspapers. Over the last 7 days I have been very busy with the many stages of creating the woven baskets, and I had forgotten how you need to have strong hands during some of the process. So, it’s no wonder that I am now a bit tired, but in a happy way as I realize I hadn’t forgotten how to weave the baskets. Working on creations can be tiring, but at the same time so rewarding and leaves you feeling so accomplished. I am certainly happy with how the weaving turned out, and am already thinking about my next one.
There are quite a few stages involved in creating newspaper woven baskets, and it can be quite time consuming, but it is very relaxing and therapeutic and a great way of expressing yourself and your ideas. From cutting the newspapers to making the quills, painting them, weaving, applying decoupage if decided on, cutting/finishing, priming and varnishing – it’s wonderful to finally see the finished product!
I’m so happy to say that I will be creating a new category to showcase my woven creations and, of course, these will be available to purchase. I’m looking forward to making more baskets and bags and sharing them with you all.
With much love and blessings,
